TOP EXPORT AWARD TO WA CO-OP

The Western Australian Meat Marketing Co-operative Ltd, a Cornerstone Member of the peak industry body Co-operatives WA, has been recognised as the leading agribusiness exporter for 2005.

“It was extremely pleasing to see a grower owned co-operative being recognised in the recent Industry and Export Awards” said John Carstairs, Chairman of Co-operatives WA.

“The success of WAMMCO is a demonstration of how the co-operative business model can deliver strong performance in the fiercely competitive international meat trade and WAMMCO are to be congratulated for their contribution to rural WA” said Mr Carstairs.

The WA Meat Marketing Co-operative has made a very successful transition from being a Government marketing board into a grower owned and controlled commercial operation working on behalf of its members.
